THE COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN FLASHCARD AND SCRABBLE MEDIA TO MOTIVATE THE STUDENT’S MASTERY IN VOCABULARY

AbstractMastering vocabulary is very important for EFL students. The purposes of this comparative study are to 1) determine the level students’motivation in mastery, 2) find out interaction between use applications(flashcard and scrabble) students’ motivation. This quantitative was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Jelimpo from 21st - 28th January 2018. population tenth graders involving students class X MIA as an experimental IIS A a control class. Data collection techniques used tests, questionnaires, observations. data analysis two-way ANOVA. results show that: (1) There differentmotivation Vocabulary Mastery proving withan average result 67,7% medium category (2) Media influence Value (sig = 0,047 <0, 05), while motivation does not affect value 0.424> 0.05). (3) also finds difference effectiveness application flashcards scrabble media with mean gains 82,17 68,80. Moreover, observation shows active ranged into active, quite active.
